GWI / MTD SUPPORT OF GARDENWAY PRODUCT WARRANTY POLICY
This document sets out the manner in which MTD (Troy-Bilt LLC) will perform warranty obligations on Troy-Bilt products manufactured by GWI which MTD assumed in connection with its acquisition of the assets of Garden Way Incorporated.
Products produced and distributed by GWI prior to September 1, 2001 should be handled as follows:
UNITS BEYOND 10 YEARS OF THE PURCHASE DATE or FACTORY REBUILD PROGRAM
GWI warranty policies specified a “NO-TIME-LIMIT Guarantee” that the product would not be defective in material or workmanship. It is our belief that any defects in material or workmanship would become evident within the first ten years after a product is sold. As a result, we will cover GWI products under warranty for only ten years from their original purchase date.
The GWI “Half-Price Factory Rebuilding Agreement” is not a product warranty and was not assumed by MTD and will therefore not be honored by MTD.
UNITS WITHIN 10 YEARS OF THE PURCHASE DATE
As noted above, we will provide warranty coverage for products manufactured by GWI for only ten years from the original purchase date. In the event replacement parts are no longer available, products designated with a limited lifetime warranty will be offered a 20% discount off towards the purchase of a similar new MTD produced unit. Customers who agree with this offer can be directed to an independent dealer (Cub & White dealer) or can place an order with our Direct Sales Group. (Shipping under this agreement will be waived.)
MTD/TROY-BILT WARRANTY
Products produced by MTD with the Troy-Bilt label (Riders/Tractors 1999 to current) coverage is honored as stipulated by the warranty policy.
GWI / TROY-BILT STRING TRIMMER MOWER POLICY
GWI retained all responsibility for replacement of trimmer heads on its trimmer mower under the CPSC recall. MTD has no responsibility for providing free replacement heads.
PERSONAL INJURY OR PROPERTY DAMAGE CLAIMS
Please be advised that MTD Products Inc did not build your machine. Your machine was built by Garden Way Inc., which filed for bankruptcy on July 31, 2001 and has gone out of business.
